The Wolves ... Bright

Two new poems. "The Wolves" is inspired from just the song title of Mumford & Son's "The Wolf" (haven't heard the actual song yet) and "Bright" is inspired by Of Monsters and Men's song "Crystals" and both poems mention someone who means the world to me...my amazing boyfriend :) Enjoy!

The Wolves

Corners darken in my mind

Nature’s music shakes my bones

I tremble, tremble with life

I am the trembler

For love. The earth below rises up, superior beauty

Pulls me onto a journey of commitment

Within the music skies open and glow

Within my darkened mind forests rise up and grow

We are running, running together

We are the runners

To forever. Dream catchers save our day dreams

For another day, we have no time now to drift

Look down, see hands transform

I shut my eyes and glimpse animal heads

Smell my prey on the taste in my tongue

Their sickness keeps me alive

I am hunting, hunting to survive

I am the hunter

For knowledge. Don’t forget the roses, a whisper in my ears

I won’t, I promise, I’ll come back, but for now

Moons fall again and rise again

The spirit of the woods holds our hearts in her arms

The howling music brings us closer together

So much devotion thrives between all of us

And it is wild, wild as we are

We are the wolves

To love.

Bright

Shine your light brighter

Because I need a guide

Through these treacherous waters

Of sharp shards of my past

I’m putting my trust in you

Don’t let me fall, don’t toss me into the

Crashing waves of my suffocating fears

I won’t drown without you

But I’ll float far, far away

So shine your light brighter

Blind me with your love

I want to have someone I can trust

When all I’ve had is a million of paper cuts

All over my paper thin heart

I try so hard to be strong, to breathe, to believe

So don’t let me fall, keep me steady, please

Don’t lose your faith in me

Even if I’m the only faith you have

Shine your light brighter for me

I’m just a bird who wants to fly

Over the blazing burdens of my life

Just a wolf who wants to run free

Away from the mountain scars looming behind me

So just shine, just touch me, just say something

That’s only from your honest heart

And never stop, never stop, never stop

So I can see

Shine your light as bright as you can for me
